Online UPS

The working principle of online UPS is stated as follows. It firstly transforms commercial power into direct current, and then its inverter transforms direct current into alternating current which is used as load power supply.

After transformation process of AC-DC-AC, commercial power and pulsed voltage have been purified. Their interference mediums are also removed. Therefore, the voltage transformed by inverter is quite steady.

The inverter circuit works day and night. So the uninterruptible power supply can immediately transform its stored charge into alternating current through inverter, and then offer electricity to the load, while the power is off. This avoids the problem of switching time.

Online UPS is operated in high frequency environment. Its output voltage is transformed between AC and DC.

The main advantage of online UPS is that it can offer a sensitive firewall for electrical and electronic equipment. Online USP has a wide input voltage range, no switching time and voltage stabilization, and is particularly suitable for applications requiring higher quality power supply. It also has other advantages such as high working efficiency, small volume, and light weight. Its disadvantages are weak anti-load and anti-impact abilities.

Currently, all UPS whose power is above 3kVA are online UPS. However, their cost is quite high.
